Questa straordinaria immagine ad alta risoluzione offre una vista in profondità del centro di Parigi, permettendo al lettore di esplorare e ingrandire le aree più accattivanti della città, con dettagli eccezionali.
Parigi si trova nella parte centro-settentrionale della Francia e si estende su entrambe le rive della Senna, che è chiaramente visibile nel suo serpeggiare attraverso l'immagine. Dal 26 luglio al 11 agosto 2024 l'attenzione del mondo si concentrerà su Parigi, che ospiterà i Giochi Olimpici. Poco dopo seguiranno i Giochi Paralimpici, dal 28 agosto al 8 settembre.
La risoluzione di 30 cm di questa immagine è sufficientemente dettagliata per identificare alcuni dei siti simbolo di Parigi famosi in tutto il mondo, ma anche diverse sedi olimpiche situate a pochi chilometri dal Villaggio Olimpico di Saint-Denis, a nord della città.
La forma ovale dello Stade de France spicca nella parte superiore dell'immagine, con l’Aquatics Centre alla sua sinistra, una delle due sedi permanenti realizzate per i Giochi.
L'Arco di Trionfo può essere facilmente individuato vicino al centro ed a sinistra nell'immagine, visibile con evidenza al centro della piazza Charles de Gaulle, dove 12 grandi viali convergono a formare una stella.
A sud dell'Arco di Trionfo, sull'altra sponda del fiume, si trova il parco Champ de Mars di forma rettangolare. Alla sua estremità settentrionale è visibile l'iconica Torre Eiffel, che proietta la sua ombra a nord-ovest. Qui sono state costruiti due impianti temporanei destinati ad ospitare una serie di discipline olimpiche.
A nord-est si trova l'imponente Hôtel des Invalides, un complesso che ospita musei e monumenti legati alla storia militare francese, oltre un ospedale e una casa di riposo per veterani. Sul lato nord si trova l'Esplanade des Invalides, un vasto spazio verde all'aperto che durante le Olimpiadi verrà utilizzato, tra le altre attività, come traguardo della maratona.
Verso l'estremità orientale del viale degli Champs-Élysées, che si estende in una linea retta dall'Arco di Trionfo, si trovano il Grand Palais e Place de la Concorde, entrambi trasformati in sedi olimpiche. Il famoso Jardin des Tuileries e i motivi del tentacolare museo del Louvre sono visibili immediatamente sulla sinistra.

Questa costellazione fa parte del programma Third Party Missions dell'ESA, accordo in base al quale ESA utilizza i suoi sistemi di terra multimissione e le sue competenze per acquisire, elaborare, distribuire e archiviare i dati provenienti da un'ampia gamma di missioni satellitari sviluppate e gestite da altre agenzie.

Paris in focus
This striking high-resolution image offers an in-depth view of central Paris, allowing you to explore and zoom into the city’s most captivating areas in exceptional detail.
Paris lies in the north-central part of France, spanning both banks of the Seine River, which is clearly visible winding through the image. From 26 July to 11 August 2024, the world’s attention will be focused on Paris as the city hosts the Olympic Games. The Paralympic Games will follow shortly after, from 28 August to 8 September.
The 30-cm resolution of this image is detailed enough to identify some of Paris’ world-famous landmarks and several Olympic venues, situated within a few kilometres of the Olympic Village at Saint-Denis, in the north of the city.
The oval shape of the Stade de France stands out at the top of the image, with the Aquatics Centre to its left, one of the two permanent venues constructed for the Games.
The Arc de Triomphe can be spotted easily near the centre-left of the image, standing at the centre of Place Charles de Gaulle, where 12 grand avenues converge to form a star.
South of the Arc de Triomphe, across the river, lies the rectangular Champ de Mars Park. At its northern end, the iconic Eiffel Tower is visible, casting its shadow to the northwest. Two temporary facilities have been built here to host a number of Olympic disciplines.
To the northeast lies the impressive Hôtel des Invalides, a complex that is home to museums and monuments related to French military history, as well as a hospital and a retirement home for veterans. On its north side is the Esplanade des Invalides, a vast open-air green space that will serve, among other activities, as the marathon finish line during the Olympics.
Towards the eastern end of the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, which stretches in a straight line from the Arc de Triomphe, are the Grand Palais and Place de la Concorde, both transformed into Olympic venues. The famous Jardin des Tuileries and the grounds of the sprawling Musée du Louvre are visible immediately to the left.
